In 1989, founder and CEO Rick Walsh recognized a need for clean and safe play equipment for children. Playland Maintenance Services, Inc has grown from a simple one-man operation into one of the nation’s largest and most reliable playground installation and maintenance providers.
Our supply of play equipment is immense and covers a wide variety of needs. We have delivered safe, reliable playgrounds to daycares, community centers, hotels, and as props on tv shows and movie sets. From individual and local municipal needs to national coverage for our corporate and quick service restaurant customers, our business has you covered.
We take pride in every part of the work we do, whether it’s a nationwide contract or in your backyard. Our goal is to be the best playground, aftermarket part, and playground safety surfacing supplier available. We don’t want to be the largest playground manufacturer – just the best playground supplier you’ll find.
From the beginning, safety and quality have been our top priorities. That’s why:
We are certified by NIPSI (National Institute of Playground Safety Inspectors)
With the new guidelines for public playground equipment being published during the 1980s, the need for a playground safety training program became apparent. Members of the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) met with the NRPA Executive Director in 1989 concerning a training program under NRPA to establish the playground safety standards of the ASTM International (ASTM) and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) as “best practice” for safety compliance in designing and operating public playgrounds.
Our playgrounds always conform to ASTM (American Standards, Testing, and Measures) standards.
Founded in 1898, ASTM International is a not-for-profit organization that provides a global forum for the development and publication of voluntary consensus standards for materials, products, systems, and services. Over 30,000 individuals from 100 nations are the members of ASTM International, who are producers, users, consumers, and representatives of government and academia. In over 130 varied industry areas, ASTM standards serve as the basis for manufacturing, procurement, and regulatory activities. Formerly known as the American Society for Testing and Materials, ASTM International provides standards that are accepted and used in research and development, product testing, quality systems, and commercial transactions around the globe.
